Are Google LSA Leads Good? What 3,473 Rated Leads Reveal
If you run Google Local Services Ads (LSA), you’ve probably asked the same question as every other home service business owner: are these leads actually good, or am I throwing money away on people who never planned to hire me?
As a lead generation platform managing local ad spend, the team at 99 Calls tracks these metrics daily. Since October 2025, every single LSA lead moving through our system has been rated using the exact five-point satisfaction scale Google uses when evaluating lead credits: Very Satisfied, Satisfied, Neutral, Dissatisfied, and Very Dissatisfied.
We analyzed 3,473 rated Google LSA leads generated between October 2025 and May 2026 to find out what contractors are really getting from the platform.
Are Google LSA Leads Good?
| Rating | Leads | Percentage |
| Very Satisfied | 2715 | 78.2% |
| Satisfied | 239 | 6.9% |
| Neutral | 92 | 2.6% |
| Dissatisfied | 32 | 0.9% |
| Very Dissatisfied | 395 | 11.4% |
- Nearly 4 out of every 5 leads were rated “Very Satisfied.”
- More than 85% of all leads were positive experiences.
- Only 12.3% received a negative rating.
- Just 2.6% landed in the middle as neutral.
For every bad lead, contractors received roughly seven to eight good ones.
That is an unusually strong ratio compared with most paid advertising channels.
What Makes a Google LSA Lead “Bad”?
The biggest surprise in the data is that most negative ratings weren’t caused by spam.
| Reason | Count | Share of Negative Leads |
| Job Type Mismatch | 191 | 44.7% |
| Other | 108 | 25.3% |
| Not Ready To Book | 45 | 10.5% |
| Service Area Mismatch | 30 | 7.0% |
| Duplicate | 24 | 5.6% |
| Spam | 18 | 4.2% |
| Solicitation | 11 | 2.6% |
The largest issue by far was job type mismatch.
In other words, the customer needed a service that the contractor didn’t offer.
Examples include:
- A roofer receiving a siding inquiry
- A plumber receiving a drain-cleaning request when they only install water heaters
- A landscaper getting calls for tree removal
When you combine job type mismatch and service area mismatch, more than half of all negative leads came from targeting issues rather than poor lead quality.
That matters because targeting issues can usually be fixed by:
- Updating service categories
- Refining service areas
- Reviewing LSA profile settings
- Excluding services you don’t offer
How Much Spam Is Actually in Google LSA?
Many contractors worry about spam leads.
Our data suggests that concern may be overstated.
Out of 3,473 rated leads:
- Spam accounted for just 18 leads
- Solicitation accounted for 11 leads
- Duplicates accounted for 24 leads
Combined, these categories represented fewer than 2% of all rated leads.
While junk leads certainly exist, they make up a very small portion of total LSA volume.
Are LSA Message Leads Better Than Phone Calls?
Yes.
The difference was larger than many contractors expect.
| Lead Type | Very Satisfied | Very Dissatisfied |
| Message Leads | 84.9% | 5.1% |
| Phone Leads | 74.3% | 15.0% |
Message leads consistently produced higher satisfaction rates, lower complaint rates, and fewer service mismatches. Someone who takes the time to complete a written message request has usually already read your profile, reviewed your listed services, and confirmed you operate in their area.
Phone calls still perform exceptionally well, but they are naturally more likely to include wrong numbers and fast sales pitches. The takeaway is not to avoid inbound calls, since a 74.3% top-tier satisfaction rate is excellent. Instead, ensure you understand why message leads still matter in LSAs so you can fully leverage the highest-quality lead source on the platform.
Does Lead Quality Drop as Volume Increases?
One of the biggest concerns home service business owners have is whether lead quality falls when their local market volume grows. Our data shows that quality holds strong at scale.
| Month | Very Satisfied Rate |
| Oct 2025 | 73% |
| Nov 2025 | 87% |
| Dec 2025 | 69% |
| Jan 2026 | 75% |
| Feb 2026 | 78% |
| Mar 2026 | 81% |
| Apr 2026 | 79% |
| May 2026 | 80% |
During April and May 2026, lead volume nearly doubled to roughly 800 leads per month.
Despite that growth, lead quality remained remarkably stable at around 80% Very Satisfied.
In other words, scaling did not dilute quality.
What Contractors Should Know Before Investing in Google LSA
The data points to five clear conclusions:
1. Most Google LSA Leads Are High Quality
More than 85% of rated leads received positive feedback.
2. Most Bad Leads Are Targeting Problems
Job mismatches and service-area issues account for the majority of complaints.
3. Spam Is Relatively Rare
Spam, solicitation, and duplicate leads represent less than 2% of all rated leads.
4. Message Leads Produce the Best Quality
Message leads generated the highest satisfaction scores and the lowest complaint rates.
5. Quality Remains Consistent at Scale
Lead quality held steady even as monthly volume nearly doubled.
Final Verdict: Are Google Local Services Ads Worth It?
Based on 3,473 rated leads, the answer is yes.
Google LSA is not perfect. No advertising channel is. But when nearly 8 out of every 10 leads are rated “Very Satisfied” and more than 85% receive a positive rating overall, the numbers are difficult to ignore.
Perhaps most importantly, the majority of negative experiences come from issues contractors can actively improve through better targeting and profile optimization.
For contractors looking for consistent lead volume with relatively low levels of spam and junk traffic, Google LSA continues to be one of the strongest lead generation channels available.
