Google Ads Lead Costs for Mobile Auto Detailing Services in 2026
Mobile auto detailing is built around convenience. Customers want their vehicle cleaned, polished, or restored without having to drive to a detailing shop and wait.
That convenience also makes Google an important place for mobile detailers to find new customers. Someone searching for “mobile car detailing near me” or “interior car detailing” is often looking for a company they can contact and book right away.
But how much should you expect to pay for that lead?
We analyzed proprietary Google Ads data from mobile auto detailing campaigns to see what businesses actually paid for leads in 2025 and 2026.
The good news is that mobile auto detailing remains one of the lower-cost service categories in our Google Ads data. In 2026, the median cost per lead ranged from $17 to $31, with top-performing campaigns generating leads for as little as $14.
In this report, we'll look at:
-
What mobile auto detailing leads cost in 2026
-
How 2026 compares with 2025
-
What different types of detailing leads cost
-
Why some campaigns pay considerably less than others
-
How mobile detailers can lower their cost per lead
-
Why cost per booked job matters more than cost per lead

What Is a Mobile Auto Detailing Lead?
A mobile auto detailing lead is a potential customer who contacts a detailing business after searching online for a service they need.
Common searches can include:
-
Mobile auto detailing near me
-
Mobile car detailing
-
Car detailing near me
-
Interior car detailing
-
Exterior car detailing
-
Mobile car wash
-
Paint correction
-
Ceramic coating
-
RV detailing
-
Boat detailing
A lead may come through a phone call, contact form, text message, quote request, or online booking.
For this analysis, we're interested in people who actually inquire about service, not simply people who click an advertisement.
What Does a Mobile Auto Detailing Lead Cost on Google Ads?
Quick Answer
From February through August 2026, the median Google Ads cost per lead for mobile auto detailing ranged from $17 to $31.
The average of the seven monthly median benchmarks was approximately $24 per lead.
Lower-cost campaigns generated leads for approximately $14 to $24, while the 90th-percentile benchmark ranged from $26 to $62.
These figures also line up closely with our current mobile auto detailing lead data, which puts the recent nationwide Google Ads range at approximately $16 to $33.
Mobile Auto Detailing Lead Costs in 2026
Several things stand out in the 2026 data.
Median Lead Cost Stayed Below $32
Even during July, the most expensive median month in the dataset, mobile detailing leads averaged just $31 at the median.
March was the least expensive month at $17 per lead.
Top-Performing Campaigns Were Consistent
The 10th-percentile benchmark stayed between $14 and $24 per lead throughout the seven months.
This suggests that well-performing mobile detailing campaigns can consistently generate relatively inexpensive Google Ads leads.
May Had the Biggest Performance Gap
May is particularly interesting.
The 10th-percentile CPL was $20, the median was $29, and the 90th percentile jumped to $62.
That's more than three times the CPL between the lower and upper ends of the benchmark.
The market matters, but so does the way the campaign is managed.
Mobile Auto Detailing Lead Costs: 2025 vs. 2026
We don't have comparable 2024 benchmark data for mobile auto detailing, so the most useful comparison is between 2025 and 2026.
The available data shows:
The average of the available 2025 monthly medians was approximately $26 per lead, compared with approximately $24 in 2026.
That means lead costs have remained relatively stable rather than showing the significant increases we've seen in some other service industries.
2025 Mobile Auto Detailing Lead Costs
December did not have sufficient data for a benchmark.
What the Two-Year Data Tells Us
1. Mobile Detailing Leads Remain Relatively Affordable
The average monthly median was approximately $26 in the available 2025 data and approximately $24 from February through August 2026.
So far, we aren't seeing a major increase in what mobile detailers pay for Google Ads leads.
2. One Expensive Month Can Distort the Bigger Picture
January 2025 stands out immediately.
Median CPL reached $57, compared with $22 in February and $17 in March.
April was another expensive month at $41.
That's why looking at one month of Google Ads performance can be misleading.
A detailer who looked only at January 2025 might have concluded that Google Ads leads cost around $57. Someone looking only at May might have expected $11 leads.
Neither tells the whole story.
3. 2026 Has Been More Consistent
The 2026 median hasn't experienced the same extreme swings.
From February through August, it stayed between $17 and $31.
That tighter range gives mobile detailers a more practical benchmark for evaluating current campaign performance.
4. Campaign Efficiency Can Make a Big Difference
Look at May 2026 again.
Lower-cost campaigns: $20 per lead
Median: $29 per lead
Higher-cost campaigns: $62 per lead
Two mobile detailers can advertise during the same month and end up paying dramatically different amounts for a lead.
That's why simply knowing the average CPL isn't enough.
What Does a Lead Cost for Different Types of Mobile Auto Detailing Services?
Not every detailing lead costs the same.
Someone looking specifically for interior detailing may behave differently from someone searching broadly for a mobile detailer.
Our Google Ads search-term data provides additional insight into what different types of detailing leads can cost.

What the Mobile Auto Detailing Service Data Tells Us
General Mobile Auto Detailing Produced the Most Leads
General and mobile auto detailing searches produced approximately 884 tracked leads, far more than any of the individual auto detailing categories.
Those leads averaged approximately $25 each.
Average CPC was $3.93, while approximately 15.8% of clicks became leads.
This is important because broad searches sometimes get dismissed as being too expensive.
In this case, general mobile detailing searches produced substantial lead volume while maintaining a relatively low CPL.
Interior Detailing Leads Averaged About $21
Interior detailing searches generated leads for approximately $21 each.
Average CPC was just $3.24, while 15.3% of clicks became leads.
Customers searching specifically for interior detailing may have a clear problem they want solved, such as:
-
Stains
-
Pet hair
-
Odors
-
Dirty seats
-
Food spills
-
General interior buildup
Specific searches like these can indicate strong intent.
Exterior Detailing and Paint Care Leads Also Averaged About $21
Exterior detailing and paint-care searches also averaged approximately $21 per lead.
Average CPC was $3.25 and approximately 15.6% of clicks became leads.
However, this category contained only 20 tracked leads, so the $21 figure should be viewed as directional rather than a broad industry benchmark.
Boat and RV Detailing Had a Strong Conversion Rate
Boat and RV detailing searches averaged approximately $20 per lead.
What stands out even more is the conversion rate.
Approximately 24.3% of clicks became leads, the highest rate among the major categories in our analysis.
For mobile detailers equipped to service RVs or boats, these jobs may provide another source of qualified leads outside traditional automobile detailing.
Why Are Mobile Auto Detailing Leads Relatively Affordable?
One reason becomes clear when we look at CPC.
For the major detailing categories in our service-level analysis, average CPC ranged from approximately $3.24 to $4.94.
That's relatively inexpensive traffic.
If clicks cost $4 and 15% to 20% of those visitors become leads, a mobile detailing company can generate leads without needing the advertising budgets required in many higher-cost service industries.
But inexpensive clicks don't automatically mean an efficient campaign.
You still need to turn those clicks into inquiries.
Why Do Mobile Auto Detailing Lead Costs Change?
Several factors can change what a mobile detailer pays for a Google Ads lead.
Local Competition
Google Ads is an auction.
If several detailing companies are aggressively competing for searches such as "mobile detailing near me," CPC can increase.
A market with relatively little paid competition may produce much cheaper leads.
Seasonality
Detailing demand can change throughout the year.
Weather, road salt, pollen, summer travel, holidays, vehicle sales, and special events can all affect when customers search for detailing.
Our own 2025 data illustrates this volatility, with median CPL ranging from $11 to $57 depending on the month.
Service Type
A basic interior detail, paint correction, ceramic coating, and RV detail aren't the same service.
Customers have different needs and job values, which means advertisers shouldn't expect every service to produce the same CPL.
Geographic Targeting
Mobile businesses need to be particularly careful with geography.
A cheap lead isn't particularly valuable if the customer is an hour outside the area you want to serve.
Tighter targeting can help keep ad spend focused on jobs you're actually willing to take.
Landing Page Performance
Getting the click is only half the job.
When customers reach your website, they should immediately understand:
-
That you're mobile
-
Where you travel
-
Which services you provide
-
How to contact you
-
How to request a quote
-
How to book
Before-and-after photos can also be particularly powerful for detailing because customers can immediately see the quality of the work.
Are Mobile Auto Detailing Leads Worth the Cost?
Let's say your Google Ads leads cost $25 each.
Twenty leads would cost:
20 × $25 = $500
Suppose you convert 40% of those leads into customers.
That's:
8 booked jobs
Your advertising cost per booked job would be:
$500 ÷ 8 = $62.50
If the average job is worth $200:
8 × $200 = $1,600 in revenue
You spent $500 on advertising and generated $1,600 in initial revenue.
Of course, that isn't $1,100 in profit. You still have labor, fuel, supplies, equipment, advertising management, and other operating costs.
But it illustrates why CPL by itself doesn't tell you whether Google Ads is profitable.
A Detailing Customer Can Be Worth More Than One Job
Mobile auto detailing also has something that makes a lead more valuable:
Repeat business.
A customer who pays for a full detail today may call again in three or six months.
They may also have:
-
A spouse's vehicle
-
A second vehicle
-
A work vehicle
-
An RV
-
A boat
-
Friends or family who need detailing
They could also purchase higher-value services later.
That means detailers should track more than the first transaction.
Useful metrics include:
-
Cost per lead
-
Lead-to-booking rate
-
Cost per booked job
-
Average ticket
-
Repeat booking rate
-
Revenue per customer
-
Customer lifetime value
A $30 lead that turns into a repeat customer could be much more valuable than a $15 lead that never books.
How Mobile Auto Detailers Can Lower Google Ads Lead Costs
Separate Campaigns by Service
Don't necessarily put every detailing service into one campaign.
Consider separating services such as:
-
Mobile auto detailing
-
Interior detailing
-
Exterior detailing
-
Paint correction
-
Ceramic coating
-
Boat detailing
-
RV detailing
This makes it easier to identify which services are producing profitable jobs.
Use Negative Keywords
Detailing campaigns can attract plenty of people who aren't looking to hire you.
Depending on your services, negative keywords may include:
-
Detailing jobs
-
Detailing salary
-
Detailing classes
-
Detailing supplies
-
Detailing products
-
Detailing equipment
-
DIY car detailing
-
How to detail a car
Every irrelevant click costs money.
Filtering those searches can help lower your CPL.
Make It Obvious That You Come to the Customer
Convenience is one of the biggest selling points of mobile detailing.
Don't make customers search your website to determine whether you're actually mobile.
A simple message such as:
Mobile Auto Detailing, We Come to You
immediately answers one of the customer's biggest questions.
Show Before-and-After Photos
Detailing is visual.
A potential customer can understand the quality of your work much faster by seeing a dirty interior next to the finished result than by reading several paragraphs about your process.
Use your own before-and-after photos on:
-
Your website
-
Landing pages
-
Google Business Profile
-
Social media
99 Calls also recommends fresh before-and-after photos as part of ongoing mobile detailing marketing and GBP activity.
Make Booking Easy
Customers are choosing mobile detailing because they want convenience.
Your booking process should provide the same convenience.
Make it easy to:
-
Call
-
Text
-
Request a quote
-
Book online
-
View packages
-
See your service area
The fewer steps between the search and the appointment, the better.
Combine Google Ads With SEO, GBP, and Local Services Ads
Google Ads can generate leads quickly, but it doesn't need to work alone.
A stronger mobile detailing marketing strategy can combine:
-
Google Ads
-
Organic SEO
-
Google Business Profile
-
Customer reviews
-
Local Services Ads
-
Service-specific pages
-
Before-and-after content
99 Calls currently generates mobile detailing leads through organic search, Google Ads, and Local Services Ads.
LSA is particularly interesting for mobile detailers because it gives eligible businesses another opportunity to appear prominently when local customers search for detailing services.
The advantage of using several channels is that you aren't relying entirely on one source of customers.
Focus on Cost Per Booked Job, Not Just Cost Per Lead
This may be the most important number to track.
Consider two campaigns.
Campaign A
CPL: $18
Booking rate: 20%
For 20 leads:
Ad cost = $360
Booked jobs = 4
Cost per booked job = $90
Campaign B
CPL: $30
Booking rate: 50%
For 20 leads:
Ad cost = $600
Booked jobs = 10
Cost per booked job = $60
Campaign B appears more expensive if you look only at CPL.
But it actually acquires customers for 33% less.
That's why the full funnel matters:
Ad Spend → Clicks → Leads → Booked Jobs → Completed Details → Revenue
The goal isn't to generate the cheapest mobile detailing lead.
The goal is to generate profitable detailing jobs.
Key Takeaways
Our mobile auto detailing Google Ads data shows:
-
Median 2026 CPL ranged from $17 to $31 from February through August.
-
The average of the seven 2026 monthly median benchmarks was approximately $24 per lead.
-
Lower-cost 2026 campaigns generated leads for approximately $14 to $24.
-
The available 2025 monthly median benchmarks averaged approximately $26 per lead.
-
Mobile detailing lead costs have remained relatively stable between the available 2025 and 2026 datasets.
-
General/mobile auto detailing searches averaged approximately $25 per lead and generated the most lead volume in our service-level analysis.
-
Interior detailing searches averaged approximately $21 per lead.
-
Exterior detailing and paint-care searches also averaged approximately $21, although that sample was smaller.
-
Boat and RV detailing searches averaged approximately $20 per lead and converted 24.3% of clicks into tracked leads.
-
CPC for the major service categories generally ranged from approximately $3 to $5.
-
There is no comparable 2024 benchmark data, so we have not estimated or reconstructed 2024 costs.
The biggest takeaway is that mobile auto detailing remains a relatively affordable industry for Google Ads based on the data available to us.
But don't judge a campaign solely by CPL.
A more expensive lead that books, becomes a repeat customer, and purchases additional services can be far more valuable than a cheap lead that never answers the phone again.
Methodology
The figures in this report are based on proprietary Google Ads campaign data collected by 99 Calls for mobile auto detailing businesses.
The monthly benchmark tables compare:
-
10th percentile: Lower-cost campaigns
-
50th percentile: Median campaign performance
-
90th percentile: Higher-cost campaigns
The available 2025 benchmark dataset covers January through November. December did not contain sufficient data for a benchmark.
The 2026 dataset used for this article covers February through August.
The 2026 monthly sample contains between three and five advertisers, depending on the month. Because this is a relatively small advertiser sample, these figures should be used as directional benchmarks rather than assumed to represent every mobile detailing advertiser nationwide.
There is no comparable 2024 mobile auto detailing benchmark dataset, so this report does not estimate 2024 lead costs.
For the service-level analysis, Google Ads search terms were grouped according to the type of detailing service the prospective customer appeared to be searching for. Categories with very small lead samples were excluded from the primary comparison.
Actual results vary based on location, competition, seasonality, service mix, campaign structure, search terms, website conversion rate, conversion tracking, and other factors.
