Social Media Profiles on Google Business Profile (GBP) Are Here!

Over the last few months, there’s been quite a bit of chatter about having the ability to edit social media profiles on your GBP. On October 5th, 2023, Google fully rolled out this editable field on GBP across the board.

So let’s try to answer some anticipated questions in this blog.

Which social media links can I add?

The social media profiles that can be added to your GBP are Pinterest, Tiktok, Twitter, Youtube, Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn, as seen in the below screenshot:

How do you make the edit?

In order to edit this, you need to sign in to your GBP dashboard, and then click on “edit profile”. Once you’re on this screen, you’ll see the “Social profiles” field under the “Website” field.

Click on “Social profiles” then select the social media you want to add your link for. Once you select the social media profile, you can enter the link to that profile, then click on “save”

How do the profiles show up on my GBP?

The social media icon for the social media profiles you selected is displayed at the bottom of your knowledge panel and it’s linked to the link for the social media profile you entered, as seen in the screenshot below:

Will this help my GBP ranking?

Because this feature is so new, it’s unclear whether or not it will help your GBP ranking, but what is clear is that consumers will have easy access to your social media sites other than just the GBP without having to search for them, making the research process on the consumer side more seamless.
